Frequently Asked Questions

About the watch

What is EONIQ Atelier?

EONIQ Atelier is the in-house watch line of EONIQ, a Hong Kong watch brand founded in 2014. Each watch is hand-assembled, regulated and checked by our watchmakers in Hong Kong. The Malbec is our first model.

What are the Malbec's specifications?

38.5mm 316L stainless steel case, 8.5mm thick, 45.5mm lug-to-lug, 20mm lugs. Sapphire front crystal with anti-reflective coating and an exhibition case back with mineral crystal. Miyota 9039 automatic movement. Water resistant to 3ATM.

Which Malbec models are there?

Malbec (white sector dial with Breguet-style numerals), Malbec – Traditional Chinese Font (numerals designed with a Hong Kong font designer) and the limited edition Black Malbec – Traditional Chinese Font.

What makes the dial special?

The numerals are applied by hand using pad printing in our own studio. It builds up fine, crisp lines that digital printing can't match.

What is flame bluing?

Our watchmaker heats the steel hands and screws by hand until they turn a deep blue. It's a traditional technique that also helps protect the steel.

Is the Malbec water resistant?

It's rated 3ATM, so it's fine for splashes and rain. Please don't swim or shower with it.

Customisation

Can I customise my Malbec?

Yes. You can choose Chinese or Roman numerals, change the colour of one or more numbers, choose purple flame-blued hands or screws, or add your own design element to the dial. Custom dials start from US$800; the final price depends on your design. See the full list on our Customized Watch page.

Why are purple hands an upgrade?

Steel turns violet-purple for only a few seconds before it becomes blue, so each purple hand has to be timed perfectly by hand, one at a time.

How long does a custom watch take?

Watchmaking takes 2–3 weeks, as each custom dial needs its own printing plates and test prints. Delivery then takes 1–2 weeks, depending on your location.

Orders and shipping

How long does it take to make and ship?

Each watch takes about 2 weeks to make and test. Express or local shipping then takes 3–7 working days, and standard shipping 10–18 working days. All orders ship tracked from Hong Kong.

Do you ship worldwide? Who pays duties?

Yes, we ship worldwide from Hong Kong. Import duties and taxes aren't included and are paid by the customer.

How do I pay?

Pay in full at checkout by card, PayPal or the other payment methods shown at checkout.

What currency are prices in?

Prices are in US dollars. Visitors from Hong Kong see Hong Kong dollars.

Returns and warranty

What is your return policy?

You can return non-custom watches within 14 days of delivery, unused and in their original packaging. Custom watches can't be returned for a change of mind once production starts, but if there's a defect reported within 14 days, we'll repair, replace or refund it.

What warranty do I get?

Two years from the date of shipment. It doesn't cover damage from misuse, accidents or not following the care instructions.
